This ca 1938 New Haven "Stylis" Flip Electric Flip Clock is not only highly collectable and rare but also a piece of history. It's one of the first flip style electric clocks made.

FROM the ORIGINAL Article about the Clock: The clock first came out between 1937-1939 in an era now called the Streamline Moderne style. Everything from cars, clocks, and tools were designed with streamlined profiles and use of modern materials in keeping with the engineering advances in the transportation fields. The public's fascination with world travel and streamlined speed were brought to the New Haven flip clocks. Clearly different and unique, the clocks did not match the prevailing style, and were not over the top art deco look either. Maybe, this explains why these clocks did not quite catch on and quickly faded into obscurity. This apparent lack of popularity in their time, and likely limited (but unknown) production run, probably explains the rarity of the New Haven Flip Clock.

Either way, you have a chance to get something difficult to acquire right here on Etsy. I've only found a few examples of this item sold in the last 10 years. Approximate size is 8" x 4" x 4".

Clock condition is very good. Clock runs quietly, functions well and keeps good time. The flip numerals show their age but all work and are in good order. I've lightly oiled the internal parts and cleaned the glass tube. The mahogany case shows some some damage on one edge. There is some varnish nicks on the top as well (both shown in pictures). Also, the original time setting knob was missing when received so I've put on another which mostly matches. A new electrical cord completes the clock for continued use.

Due to rarity, finding parts or an original motor is extremely difficult (if not impossible). Shipping is free and will come in a well padded box. Due to the age of the clock and movement inside, I can't offer a warranty.
