What an INTERESTING and RARE combination.
This is a No. 12 Mantel clock with original paper label on back - patent date is 1907. The instructions for use are part of the label. It is weight driven clock with ~30 hours limit (resets by manually pulling the chain to lift the weight). I believe this has the original chain but I have not been able to find another working model to compare it with. Label is faded but readable. There is minor damage to the veneer (please reference photos).
A unique SHELF/DECOR PIECE with a Built in CLOCK from the early 1900s. Experience the timeless elegance of this antique and rare Arts & Crafts / Mission shelf clock by Monitor Clock Works in Medina, NY. Makes a great statement piece for your home with display shelf on the top.
Size is 30" long by 10 1/2" tall and shelf (with plate groove) is 6" deep. The pendulum is 13" long.
The clock is crafted from a combination of veneer wood, boasting a rich brown color that complements its antique mission style era. Overall the wood is in very good condition. Screws match the period as well. The movement appears original due to the style and weight used (included with the clock). The pendulum appears original (restored to working condition by me) to the time as well.
As seen in the pictures, the label retains most of the information and is useful to help validate the date of manufacture. Please see all the photos for what you're getting. The weight is not original but works and matches the weight from the original from what little information I could find. You access the movement from the front (4 screws). I've oiled the original movement which appeared in good condition.
It keeps decent time while running but sensitive to a level and stable surface/wall. Need to attach this clock into studs due to weight. ALSO, IMPORTANT to use a level to ensure running condition.
You adjust the pendulum timing from moving the pendulum up or down (non-original screw in back).
Shipping is free (service picked by us) and will come in a well padded box.
NOTE: The clock is in working condition over a period of a week for testing. Unless otherwise noted, the clock keeps time within a couple of minutes during testing. When the clock is boxed, it is in working order.
IMPORTANT: While each critical item is removed and wrapped separately, shipping CAN AFFECT the movement/pendulum/suspension spring and leader. You will need to put the pendulum/leader/weight back on to the movement correctly for it to work. You can look at YouTube videos for further knowledge or contact a local clock shop.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The mechanical movement/pendulum require a LEVEL surface (side to side and front to back) to work properly. I don't accept returns for the customer's inability to adjust and manage the clock. Due to the age of the clock and movement inside, I can't offer a warranty. Any work to fix/maintain antique clocks will require a specialist.
